The Wells Good Afternoon Choir rehearse every Tuesday afternoon at St Thomas Church, Wells from 2.00-4.00pm.

Grenville Jones, the founder of the Good Afternoon Choirs is delighted that Ruth Jenkins is taking over as the leader of the Wells Good Afternoon Choir.

Ruth graduated in Music at Birmingham University, specialising in voice and conducting the University Chamber Choir. Following a post-graduate training in Music Therapy she working in the NHS for many years before training as a teacher at Warwick University. Ruth has since worked in schools teaching music. She sings, plays piano, violin, trumpet and cornet and plays in a variety of bands and musical groups.

A warm welcome awaits any new members, there are NO auditions and everyone is welcome! There is no charge for attending your first rehearsal. Come alone or with a friend – either way the Choir will be pleased to meet you. You will be joining over 1,000 people singing at Good Afternoon Choirs around the South West and beyond!

Membership forms are available to collect at every rehearsal. The choir rehearsals are in 4 terms of 10 weeks and members pay £63 per term – this covers room and piano hire, music, admin and musician fees. You do not need to join at the start of a term, you can simply come along to any rehearsal and pick up a membership form should you wish to join the choir – your fee will then be worked out for the remainder of that term.

Good Afternoon Choir WELLS
Music has always been a passion of Sheila's from a very early age and so, after teacher training - and specialising in music, she taught for 30 years in primary and middle schools with pupils of all ages. However in all that time she always especially enjoyed the time spent encouraging others to perform in shows and concerts. As a result of this she has spent the last 10+ years solely MD-ing and teaching those involved in musical theatre and musical projects of all kinds in different venues. Most of all she really enjoys helping people to believe in themselves and their vocal abilities and to see the sheer pleasure on their faces when they achieve these goals. She also loves accompanying and looks forward to focusing mostly on this with the Wells Good Afternoon Choir members.
